Credit Policy & Risk Operations Underwriting Program Manager

This is a Full-time position in Phoenix, AZ posted February 15, 2021.

Manage risk governance for cross-departmental risk-initiated underwriting programs which are focused on leveraging data and automating functions. This function includes managing the implementation of new and/or existing underwriting programs, on behalf of the team, aimed to increase productivity while simulatenaously maintaining an acceptable risk tolerance. This position requires a high level of autonomy to create and ensure conformity to risk management policy, procedures and acceptable risk metrics and a high level of coordination with internal teams (eg. IT, Product Owner/Process Engineer, UW Operations Analytics and Risk Analytics).Primary Duties and Responsibilities* Apply a data driven approach and create, implement, and manage risk governance policies. (eg. Risk Informed Underwriting).* Evaluate loan submission quality, lender eligibility, quality control results and define appropriate risk metrics while ensuring volume and performance match expected risk metrics.* Act as subject matter expert, and key liaison, on behalf of risk management, coordinating implementation efforts between IT, Underwriting Operations/Analytics, Risk Analytics and the Service Center to successfully implement cross-collaborative programs.* Draft business requirements, perform UAT and collaborate with IT/PMO office on behalf of risk management.* Collaborate with credit policy team and provide ad hoc risk operations support.Job SpecificationsKnowledge:* Exceptional understanding of all aspects of the Underwriting process including but not limited to knowledge of loan submission methods (EDI, portal etc.), system interfaces, loan application data, and underwriting (GSE and non GSE loans.)* User Acceptance Testing (system testing) and Service Center experience preferredSkills and Abilities:* Ability to apply a systems driven approach to problem solving* Acute attention to detail* Ability to collaborate with internal teams* Apply critical thinking skills* Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to achieve a common goalPrior Work Experience* Technical: 8 – 10 years* Supervisory: NoneEducation and Credentials* Required: Bachelor’s Degree* Preferred: Master’s DegreeRadian is unable to sponsor visas for applicants for this specific role.EEO StatementRadian complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws prohibiting discrimination in employment.
