Job Family Engineering Tech Support This is currently a contract with a high likelihood of extension andor conversation. The successful candidates will be already living in Phoenix, AZ and already have a Bachelorrsquos degree, either in Engineering (Biomedical, mechanical, and electrical disciplines preferred) OR Bachelorrsquos degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Life Sciences along with 2+ years of experience working as an Automation Engineering associate. Job Description The Clinical Testing Lab is seeking a talented full-time Automation Engineering Associate to join their growing support team. Working with minimal supervision, the Engineer Associate will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair clinical automation instruments. They will also install, calibrate, validate, and coordinate movement of sensitive equipment between laboratory sites as well as provide training, staff support, and development consulting in a heavily automated and regulated high complexity clinical testing lab. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to listen. Attention to detail is critical for this position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Biomedical, mechanical, and electrical disciplines preferred) or related field AND two (2) years of engineering or related experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience andor education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. OR Bachelorrsquos degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related field AND (2) years of technical service or assay development related experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience andor education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Essential Duties Develops and services integrated automated assay systems including motion controlrobotics, electrical circuits, fluidicpumping systems, and optical components. Assists with the training, maintenance, and use of automated assay equipment in a clinical diagnostic setting Set-upinstallation, calibration, qualification, and documentation of complex equipment Decontamination and tear-down of complex equipment Interfaces with equipment manufacturers to source equipment or procure parts Provides routine and emergency maintenance of complex, critical equipment May supervise, coordinate, or monitor activities of subordinates May coordinate the activities of co-workers to replicate or resolve errors Maintain records and documents in a manner compliant with all regulatory requirements Ability to audit work products and efforts Assist in developing corrective action preventative action (CAPA) plans Desired Qualifications Experience with Beckman Coulter Biomek liquid handling platform highly valued Experience with VBA, Jscript, or similar language preferred Experience automating tasks and confronting the challenges of translating and scaling high-throughput laboratory processes Experience as a field service engineer or field applications specialist is highly valued. Experience in a biological wet lab valued. Experience coordinating the troubleshooting and repair of multi-system equipment Experience providing advice and assistance in the maintenance of a wide variety of instruments with a preference for Automated liquid handling platforms (Biomek preferred) Bead purification RT-qPCR Multi-mode Spectrophotometry Able to articulate complex engineering topics to individuals with minimal technical knowledge Ability to read and decipher schematics, ElectricalFluidicMechanical Strong understanding of molecular biology Familiarity with common clinical molecular diagnostic platforms and assays (qPCR, ELISA, NGS) Familiarity with highly regulated environments, GMP, GLP, CLIA, CAP preferred Ability to operate in a fast pace environment and adapt as priorities evolve Desire to learn from mistakes, accept new challenges, and constantly develop further knowledge at the interface of translational science and automation Working Environment Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds Some work in a hazardous environment while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to including an Air Purifying Respirator (APR) or supplied air Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include andor are subject to resolution of hazardous materials incidents Clearly communicate to perform essential functions
