Our software engineering team is growing!

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager with progressive technical experience leading high performing eCommerce development teams.

We need an individual with a demonstrated progression from sharp coding skills, architectural leadership, and a passion for managing high performing engineers, in a fast-paced environment.

This position is a mix of development, process engineering, and management responsibilities with a heavy emphasis on technical leadership.

Our technical environment includes a variety of full stack web development technologies including Ruby, Rails, React, Postgresql, GraphQL, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.

We encourage a culture of test driven development via automated testing tools such as Rspec, Cucumber, Cypress, and Jest, but we also have a team of dedicated Quality Engineers.

Our applications are hosted on Heroku and Vercel, and our continuous deployment system is built on top of BuildKite.

Together, we are radically reshaping how we think about sleep, mattresses, and shopping and we’re just getting started.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead engineering teams that fall under the eCommerce Digital Product Group, which focuses on Customer Acquisition and top of funnel engineering effortsReport to the VP of Technology and partner with senior engineering leadership on strategic planning to continuously improve the engineering organization and uphold our workplace philosophy and core behaviorsWork with our Product, Engineering, Design, Performance Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and collaboration Have a service-oriented and product quality mindset while driving technical excellence across the organization.

Leverage your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar and ensure your team delivers extraordinary results at the high technical level we setWork closely with product management team to ensure we’re building the best digital productBe responsible for the execution and success of complex technical projectsContribute and inform project planning and roadmapping REQUIREMENTS: 2+ years management experience building and leading software engineering teams with several direct reportsAbility to scale, build and develop a team of experienced professionals, providing career development and coaching6+ years of programming in Javascript and React with an extensive knowledge of the JAMstack.

Brownie points if you’ve deployed on Next.JS3+ years of eCommerce experience particularly working with marketing teams to implement and maintain analytics platforms, tag manager containers and other third-party marketing integrationsKnowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.

We’re not expecting you to be an encyclopedia here, but you should have a solid understanding of semantic HTML and accessibility best practicesA practical knowledge of unit testing with Jest and TDDStrategic mindset you’re comfortable thinking a few steps ahead of where the team is at now YOU’LL SLEEP WELL WHEN YOU WORK WITH US Our people.
