USAA: Data Engineer Lead Level


This is a Full-time position in Scottsdale, AZ posted February 13, 2021.

Purpose of Job We are looking for a talented Data Architect (DE Lead Level) to work in Plano, TX and or 100% remote work from home opportunity.

Data Engineers deliver quality reporting and data intelligence solutions to the organization and assist client teams with drawing insights to make informed, data driven decisions.

Data Engineers (DEs) are engaged in all phases of the data management lifecycle; gather and analyze requirements, collect, process, store and secure, use, share and communicate, archive, reuse and repurpose data.

Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and controlled.

Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

Provide guidance and work with team members to ensure successful completion of tasks Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field of study, OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required.

Minimum Experience: 8 years of data management experience implementing data solutions demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s) to include 2 years demonstrated technical leadership experience and/or leading teams.

Deep experience with and contributes to multiple technologies and product lines across a company.

What you will do: Participate/lead in producing conceptual, logical and physical architectural artifacts for current, transition and target states of operational and analytical data requirements.

Identify, create and socialize data design patterns to improve alignment and consistency of data applications.

Identify, create and socialize developer guides to explain technology best practices, how tos and do’s and don’t Identify, create and socialize standards and specifications for existing and new technology to drive their adoptions by sub-domains.

Identify the need for common components for shared business capabilities, and develop the strategy including architecture to drive their development and adoption What you will have: Hands on experience working on: Migration of legacy on-prem operational and analytical datastores to private and public clouds Determination of source of record and / or approach to distributing / syncing data across systems Data integration and data pipelines (using ETL / ELT, CDC, lookups, sync, event management, etc.) including use of Data Build Tools (Fishtown Analytics), Informatica, Kafka, Spark and DataStage Data lake concepts in AWS using S3 and Snowflake including ingestion, validation, cleansing, lineage, metadata etc.

Analytic data warehouse concepts (including transformation, consolidation, aggregation, etc.) using AWS Snowflake, Netezza and reporting using Tableau programming languages including Phyton, and R.

Batch processing tools such as Control-M.

ML model development, implementation and support feature engineering DDLC for large scale data transformation projects.

Experience describing complex technology decisions to both technical and nontechnical audiences at all levels in the organization Experience effectively communicating and developing high trust relationships with frontline and second level management and stakeholders Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.G.

scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience and recovery, etc.) Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level When you apply for this position, you will be required to answer some initial questions.

Preferred Experience: 3-5 years working as a solution or enterprise architect in a fortune 500 company Experience migrating legacy on-prem operational and analytical datastores to private and public clouds Experience working on determination of source of record and / or approach to distributing / syncing data across systems Experience with Data lake concepts in AWS using S3 and Snowflake including ingestion, validation, cleansing, lineage, metadata etc.

Experience with Guidewire is huge plus.

Experience with SAFe framework or other similar agile frameworks.
