Job Description

As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

Responsible to ensure that all Wells Fargo Auto Credit Risk activities are properly documented and meet Wells Fargo Consumer Credit policy. The team member will be responsible for governing all required activity after a strategy and /or policy change is approved. The incumbent will work with Credit Risk Strategy Teams, information technology teams, and line of business operational teams to ensure that changes are implemented properly. The team member will monitor approved changes to ensure that they do not exceed their limits

Specific responsibilities (not limited to);
Govern the Credit Risk Management change process

  • Reach out to all stakeholders to determine if their process is impacted
  • Work with impacted stakeholders to create action plans
  • Coordinate with Information Technology and Operational teams to ensure all action items are addressed as part of the implementation plan
  • Collect evidence that each action plan is complete
  • Document all impacts, action plans, action plan completion, and implementation details and archive them for reference by Audit, Risk Asset Review or Regulators
  • Develop and maintain process reports and data.

Post approval follow-up

  • Ensure that all follow-ups required as part of the approval of a credit risk strategy or policy change are clearly documented including detailed requirements, responsible party, and due date
  • Follow-up with the responsible party to ensure that all follow-ups are completed by the due date
  • Ensure that the Senior Credit Officer has approved the follow-up documentation

Quarterly Monitoring of Credit Risk Strategy and Policy changes

  • Ensure that all approved changes to Credit Risk strategies and policies do not exceed their limits for loan volume or credit losses
  • Identify the changes that need to be monitored on a quarterly basis
  • Work with the responsible parties to document the performance of each change including the run rates for loan volume and / or Credit losses
  • Host a meeting with the Senior Credit Officer to review the results
  • Follow-up on any resulting action items and ensure a timely completion.

Cross train into and Support other Credit Risk Governance functions such as managing the Credit Approval Process and Policy Management.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a risk role demonstrated through work or military experience; or a Master’s degree or higher in business or economics

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • 10+ years of SQL or SAS experience
  • Strong presentation skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Change management experience
  • Experience in Indirect Automobile underwriting and or collections
  • Effective with individual contributors, teams and senior/executive leadership.
  • A thorough understanding of data management and reporting
  • Strong consultative and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to build rapport with multiple business line levels
  • Ability to set multiple priorities and appropriately estimate completion time frames
