The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support of various review functions across Home Lending, including branch inspections, agency reviews, investor/insurer reviews, operational risk reviews, etc.
  • Establish strong relationships at all levels of the organization, including line of business partners, Control team members, Legal, IRM, Wells Fargo Audit Services and other key business partners. 
  • Ensure adherence to applicable enterprise and business policies.
  • Provide on-going support for key line of business initiatives related to simplifying business processes
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, internal controls for applicable review functions
  • Identification of emerging risks and issues
  • Identify, prioritize, and escalate issues
  • Assist with development and evaluation of corrective action plans, remediation and customer redress strategies
  • Ongoing monitoring and assessment of operating/control environment
  • Assessment of monitoring outcomes to determine need to elevate risk posture
  • Facilitation of end to end issue management for issues owned by supported programs
  • Development and sustainability validation of action plans
  • Root cause and theme/trend identification of review results leading to proactive mitigation
  • Control design in partnership with program owner including effectiveness measures, implementation support, validation of effectiveness post implementation and controls evaluation based on defined triggers
  • Escalation based on breaches and defined triggers
  • Design/development of appropriate metrics to inform and monitor the health and control of the operational risk environment
  • In partnership with identified accountable program owners, provide control and process expertise in the implementation of key risk management programs into the standard operating framework of the business

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • Audit or internal controls testing experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of home lending or consumer lending
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership
  • Ability to escalate issues
