Digital Video Editor

This is a Full-time position in Phoenix, AZ posted October 31, 2021.

12 News is looking for a video editor/ENG coordinator who can handle the pressure of breaking news with grace and calm. This position works closely with broadcast producers, digital producers, photographers, reporters, assignment desk, and news managers to edit multi-platform content and to establish and troubleshoot live feeds. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, be able to extreme multi-task, and have the know-how to adjust on the fly.

Responsibilities:

  • Tuning and recording live signals from incoming microwave, satellite, Dejero and TVU bonded cellular, fiber line, and online sources.
  • Monitoring and organizing incoming content for use on multiple platforms.
  • Editing news and feature stories, voiceovers, teases and other video elements for live shows and pre-taped specials, with a focus on continuity and creativity.
  • Receiving content from and sending content to field crews, network contacts, and other TEGNA stations.
  • Overseeing quality control of edited videos and live shots, with the ability to determine good picture and audio quality.
  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple needs simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • One to three years of experience working in non-linear video editing in a television newsroom or a production company, with a command of editing principles and practice. Knowledge of Edius is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or video production.
  • Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects are a plus.
  • Videography experience is a plus.
  • Must be team-oriented, have a positive attitude, be a problem solver, and possess good computer skills and strong communication skills.
  • Must have attention to detail and be a stickler for accuracy and precision.

Work Environment: Office

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
