USAA: Manger Of P&C Guidewire Platform


This is a Full-time position in Chandler, AZ posted October 29, 2020.

Purpose of Job We are seeking a talented Engineering Manager of P& C Guidewire Platform forour Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZ facility.

NOTE: The candidate selected for this position will work with the IT management team in the P& C IT line of business.

The candidate would support and manage full stack development team(s) that work in USAA’s Talon, Guidewire, and AWS technology stacks.

These software engineering teams create and maintain DevOps tooling, tooling integration, and telemetry for the purpose of reducing delivery lead time, improving application quality, and improving adherence to controls.

Projects the candidate could support include: P& C Policy Modernization and P& C Claims Modernization.

Manages one or more analytical, business or technical support activities.

Authorizes and influences the development and delivery of business solutions that enable optimal business performance.

Provides and is accountable for technical leadership in the plan, design, development, testing, implementation, or maintenance of business solutions.

Leads and directs change management, process improvement, or technical support initiatives.

Provides direction and analytical support and directs business plan development to execute initiatives.

Advises senior management and provides high level consulting.

This position is typically responsible for managing a team of employees engaged in one functional activity.

May be responsible for vendor management activities including service agreements, staff augmentation and technology contracts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required, or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required in lieu of a degree.

8 or more years of experience in a business, analytical or technology support function to include 3 or more years as a team lead or manager in a relevant business function or technology environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 3 years managing SaaS and PaaS technical platforms 3 years gathering internal customer needs, prioritizing, and working with vendors to influence external roadmaps 3 years partnering with vendors to understand their roadmap and partnering with internal platform users to create awareness and alignment with internal roadmaps 3 years ensuring proper SLAâ??s and SLOâ??s are integrated into agreements with PaaS/SaaS suppliers and creating internal routines to review vendor performance 3 years leading teams that design, build, and deploy custom code solutions leveraging vendor platform provided APIs 3 years communicating platform health and roadmaps to executive audiences in business and IT Prior experience with Guidewire Prior experience with application and system modernization Prior experience with managing risk and creating mitigating controls Prior experience with developing and tracking to Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs) Desired Characteristics USAA Infrastructure Engineering Managers create innovative solutions that impact our members.
