About the team and position

The Compensation Manager is an integral and highly valued member of the Total Rewards team. You will help execute and communicate our total rewards philosophy across all of Carvana. This is an exciting opportunity to influence our ~15,000 employees and manage compensation strategy and programs. The Compensation Manager leads a team of Compensation-focused professionals and processes. This role will also interact with leaders at all levels of the organization, including senior executives, making key recommendations and proposals. 


What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with the Head of Total Rewards on the execution, communication and education of the Total Rewards philosophy and compensation policies and programs.
  • Oversee, lead, and develop the Compensation team to ensure individual/team goals and the needs of the business are proactively met.
  • Assist the Head of Total Rewards with the design and implementation of compensation policies, guidelines, programs, and tools.
  • Develop education and training materials related to compensation policies, tools and programs.
  • Manage the annual compensation review process, as well as provide off-cycle support to managers as needed.
  • Provide leadership, counsel, and guidance on recommendations to Sr. Executives, Management, and HR staff on pay decisions.
  • Manage the maintenance of multiple compensation structures.
  • Manage job evaluation and market analysis processes.
  • Manage annual benchmarking process.
  • Conducts compensation analysis to identify internal trends and compliance improvements.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and local wage and employment laws.
  • Manage the participation and purchase of compensation surveys.

What you should have

  • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience required..
  • Minimum of 5 years of broad-based compensation experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and legislation related to employee compensation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of compensation policies and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including v-lookup, pivot tables, and charts) and compensation management tools and surveys.
  • Excellent coaching, development, leadership, and management skills.
  • Skilled collaborator, managing partnerships with internal stakeholders and outside consultants to achieve results.
  • Ability to present information in a concise and meaningful manner to managers and executives.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Highly organized with excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to problem-solve and work under pressure in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing organization.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.


It would be great if you also had

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification.
