Gaming Director

Gila River Hotels & Casinos

This is a Full-time position in Chandler, AZ posted May 1, 2021.

This position serves as the Manager on Duty for the casino property and is responsible for all pit operations, guests, and personnel by performing the following duties personally and/or through subordinate staff. Possess thorough knowledge of Gila River Gaming Internal Controls, policies, procedures. Tribal Gaming Office, Compact and State Gaming Regulations. Ensures that table games are in regulatory compliance with the Tribal Gaming Office, State Gaming Authority, internal controls, and standard operating procedures, as well as demonstrating the GILA WAY.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and provides excellent guest service experiences to both internal and external guests.
  • Responsible for making a management decision while on duty in regards to casino operations and guests concerns.
  • Regularly circulates through all areas of the casino monitoring performance. Acts as a role model and coach while developing team members, providing guidance using a consistent and approachable demeanor.
  • Responsible for the overall operations of all table gaming and sports book operations including each pit, shift, personnel, record keeping, customer satisfaction, policies and procedures. Ensures that all the table gaming personnel adheres to and complies with company policies, procedures, standards and applicable government regulations.
  • Assists the Corporate VP of Gaming Operations in establishing current and long-range objectives for the Table Games Department.
  • Assists the Corporate VP of Gaming Operations in preparing budgets, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reviews, including budget variances, statistical fluctuations and organizational development.
  • Assists the Corporate VP of Gaming Operations in reviewing staffing levels including labor scheduling, responsible for development of staff; interviews, hires, and evaluates both management and hourly staff. Recommends department employees for promotions are appropriate.
  • Works with staff and the Corporate VP of Gaming Operations to maintain table games and sports book equipment /supplies. Responsible for maintaining inventory and makes recommendations for purchasing gaming equipment and supplies.
  • Works with the Corporate VP of Gaming Operations to develop promotions to increase table games and sports book patronage.
  • Develops training programs to ensure staff is cognizant of all departmental rules, regulations and procedures and prepares department employees for advancement and promotion.
  • Keeps table games and sports book staff up to date on gaming industry news, property wide news and Gila River program affecting the operations of the Enterprise.
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing Pathways Mentorship Program participants to successfully transition to management level positions .
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises multiple employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in a management discipline preferred.
  • Three (3) years of gaming management experience in a casino/gaming environment, preferably in Table Games operations.
  • Ability to perform the GILA WAY which is as follows: Greet our guest, Interact positively with our guest, Listen actively to our guest, and Appreciate our guest.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail, excellent guest service skills, strong organizational skills, telephone etiquette, and be a self-starter with the ability to follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as well as to gain the cooperation of guests and fellow team members.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • This position must have, or an ability to acquire within one year, an in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of Enterprise Policies and Procedures, governmental regulations, and technical rules relevant to their responsibilities
