Three to five years prior maintenance and custodial experience required.

One to two years supervisory experience required.

Understanding and knowledge of health, safety and fire codes as they relate to schools.

Basic understanding and working knowledge of all major trades such as plumbing, painting, electrical, and refrigeration.

Ability to lift and manipulate equipment and materials weighing up to 100 lbs.

Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner.

Ability to operate job-related equipment.

Have a basic understanding of school based budgeting.

Have a basic understanding of the construction trades Function: To provide supervisory responsibilities required to maintain school buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, and secure condition through scheduling, supervising and participation in plant maintenance services.

Performance Responsibilities Supervises onsite personnel to include custodians, maintenance staff, and grounds staff.

Keeps accurate records of supplies and maintenance of equipment.

Provides instructions in work methods, trains and orients new employees.

Performs custodial, grounds, minor repairs and routine maintenance work as necessary.

Reports need for major repairs or maintenance to the central maintenance department.

Orders, receives and checks supplies and equipment.

Confers with teachers and administrators and provides necessary maintenance repairs to classrooms and equipment.

Maintains work records and submits required reports.

Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program in buildings and is responsible to see that the program is followed per the School Facilities Board (SFB) standards.

Review and maintain county and state health codes on campus to the level of required site inspections.

Operates equipment in a safe manner.

Reads all label and job-related information.

Understand and applies safety-related precautions as outlined by Material Safety Data Sheets.

Relates to public, staff and students in a positive manner.

Coordinates use of facilities for the local school site with the building administrator and district office staff.

Conducts interviewing and hiring of custodial personnel.

Coordinates the posting of pesticide/herbicide notices as required by AAC.R7-2-315 at building sites.

Manages within approved budgeted expectations for revenue and expenses.

Attains and maintains an environment that is conducive to meeting the needs of the students and staff.

Assist and coordinate with site administration in the process of storing and disposing of all hazardous materials on the local campus site per regulatory agencies and procurement guidelines.

Abides by district policies and procedures.

Complies with safety instructions, observes safe work practices, and provides input on safety issues and promotes a safe work environment.

Assures departmental processes to comply with safe work practices to include monthly safety inspections.

Attends, promotes required and recommended staff trainings.

Will provide trainings to meet expectations.

Responsible for fire code and health code compliance with the various agencies.

Familiar with computerized software in school operations.

Oversees local use vans for campus use, such as field trips and athletic team usage.

Performs additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Director of Facilities and Operations.
