The Intelligent Automation Department has an opening for a Principal Program Manager. This position can be located in Pleasanton, California or Phoenix, Arizona.

Position Purpose

The Intelligent Automation team at Albertsons inspires to build best Automation Center of Excellence to enable Intelligent Automation and revolutionize the food and drug retail industry. This Principal Technical Program Manager role will support all Intelligent Automation programs to drive true enterprise level automation initiative across various functions within Albertsons to manage all key project deliverables including, planning, scheduling, financial tracking, resource coordination and project status. Working in a fast-paced agile environment, this position will be critical in managing workstreams to advance the capabilities of our Intelligent Automation portfolio solutions and be part of a stellar team.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design solutions utilizing Intelligent Automation best practices, framework and maintain technical responsibility for project delivery as the sole technical resource on a project or the leader of a delivery team
  • Define and execute the optimum getting started methodology and standardize globally.
  • Lead the transformation effort to standardize the delivery management and enabling technology landscape within the customer to achieve cost efficiency and service delivery performance.
  • Creates high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems
  • Oversee various responsibilities of project initiatives until the project is delivered and deployed successfully.
  • Build strong working relationships with business stakeholders and ensure project support and commitment.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, roles, and responsibilities in collaboration with stakeholders, business partners and project team members.
  • Lead and manage engagements and internal business partners to complete customer requests in accordance with established budget, work plans and scope.
  • Own and identify issues critical to our operational success.
  • Develop and present conclusions and recommendations to internal senior management.
  • Participate and lead regular status and internal management meetings.
  • Participate in the development of cost benefit analysis, associated budgets and tracking of actual costs spent vs budget and regularly reporting on project status to management.
  • Manage project progress via Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project and other Project management tools.
  • Assign and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on time and within budget.
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, and manage project risks. Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Manage stakeholder communications and approvals.
  • Manage project related documentation like proposals, progress reports, requirements, and presentations.
  • Plan and execute deployments, support handover of project and necessary training.


  • 4-year degree (Information Systems, Business Administration, or relational functional field) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience.
  • 10+ years of professional working experience product services industry preferably with strong automation transformation experience.
  • Experience in Design Implementation of Robotics Process and IoT Automation.
  • 5 years of professional experience in automation and/or integration projects.
  • A track record in training and mentoring individuals on development and delivery disciplines
  • The ability to methodically solve business and technical problems using innovative and well-planned approaches with well documented, supportable and extensible developments.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Automation Center of Excellence enablement.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong background in working with or within Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Retail experience a plus
  • Ability to do project planning, budget estimation and management, resource planning and assessment, financial planning, and risk assessment.
  • Strong experience in via Jira, Confluence, Microsoft project or any other project management tools, financial management, scheduling, risk management capabilities.
  • Experience in working with offshore / onshore model.
  • Ability to understand client expectations and recognize and escalate issues that may affect delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service aptitude and ability to follow through to resolve customer issues.
  • Lead ambiguous and complex situations to clear measurable plans.
  • Proven experience and ability to work with people across the organization and skilled at managing cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership across multiple organizations.
