Job Title: Group Sales Manager 

Department:  Resort Sales

Reports To: Director of Sales

Summary

The Group Sales Manager proactively identifies and solicits local, regional, and individual business for the Casino/Resort. Focus would be on the corporate, convention, regional and tourism travel markets Market would consist of the entire Phoenix Metropolitan Area.  Any group business uncovered would be referred to the group sales manager.  The Group Sales Manager will be responsible for managing every detail of functions or special events when the group arrives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages group functions/special events once group arrives.  Position will ultimately handle small groups from start to finish.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality at all times, exercising discretion in sharing information.
  • Must be visible in the Sales office when not on customer sales calls
  • Scheduling and pre-call preparation is expected prior to sales calls (Submitted to Director of Sales)
  • Post Call reporting due to DOS within 1 week of sales calls
  • Timely expense reporting (Within 1 week of the call/s.)  Else expenses not approved.
  • Generate new accounts and maintains existing accounts.
  • Maintains groups’ sales request documentation in DELPHI System.
  • Communicates turnover/support requirements, as needed, to the Event Manager.
  • Tracks weekly sales results in DELPHI System.
  • Solicits information from prospects about their needs and interests.
  • Conducts sales calls, promoting the property through travel and personal involvement in regional and tourism-related organizations to include participation at pertinent and quantifiable trade and travel shows.
  • Presents the competitive features of the property to prospective customers.
  • Prepares and delivers sales and marketing pieces to current and future customers.
  • Responds to telephone and walk-in inquiries about the Resort and gives tours.
  • Conducts telemarketing programs to generate additional sales leads and trace and follow-up on all inquiries, sales calls and leads.
  • Contracts with qualified group customers (sleeping rooms and meeting space) for executive size groups.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Credit Card Compliance requirements commonly known as PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance by attending training provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management.  Signature verification of course attendance will be required.  
  • Responsible for following the PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance regulations to protect card holder data and adhere to the standards to protect guests’ private card information. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting inappropriate card handling activity, of either customers or by employees, as defined by PCI.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); college degree in Marketing, Sales, Media or other related field preferred; 4 years outside sales experience, casino and/or hospitality sales experience preferred; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent PC skills and be proficient using Microsoft Office software.  Must have working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

Other Qualifications

Must possess proven customer service skills.  Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team player.  Must present a well-groomed appearance.  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to secondary smoke and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
